Germany have moved a step closer to appointing former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann as their new head coach.
As reported by the German newspaper Bild, Sporting Director and interim head coach Rudi Voller has contacted Nagelsmann over becoming the DFB’s new head coach. The German FA are on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Hansi Flick at the weekend as they prepare for the European Championships, which they will also host, next summer.
Julian Nagelsmann set for Germany top job
It has been suggested that Voller had been keen to apply for the job on a full-time basis after leading his country in Tuesday’s 2-1 friendly victory over France in Dortmund.
Nagelsmann, who was fired by Bayern Munich in March, remains the clear favorite for the job however and the decision will ultimately come down to the 36-year-old.
Nagelsmann has yet to interview for the position but has already been given permission by the Bavarians to apply for the role despite still being under contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2026.
