Barcelona are reportedly showing an interest in signing Royal Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.

The 18-year-old is tipped to become the next Sergio Busquets after impressive in Belgium since making his professional debut.

Reports at 90Min have claimed that the Spanish champions could be set to formalize their interest in the central midfielder when the January transfer window opens.

Barcelona have been tracking the 18-year-old for the last couple of seasons, and they could even allow the player to remain at Antwerp until the end of the season to ease negotiations.

Vermeeren made his professional debut in 2022, as he came on as a second half substitute in a Europa Conference League clash against Lillestrom.

Since then, he has played 26 times for the Belgian champions, scoring once. He was a key player for the club last term, as Antwerp won the Belgian Pro League, Belgian Cup, and the Belgian Super Cup.
