Tottenham Hotspur chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini has been fired by the club’s hierarchy today.
In a shock move, the 43-year-old has been dismissed by chairman Daniel Levy after playing a prominent role in the club’s recruitment process alongside head coach Ange Postecoglou this summer.

Leonardo Gabbanini sacked by Spurs
Tottenham are preparing to bring in a new director of football following the departure of Fabio Paratici and Gabbanini had taken on more responsibilities in recent months as a result of Paratici’s exit.
Spurs’ transfer business should be viewed in a positive light with new boys James Maddison, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, and Brennan Johnson all moves widely considered as shrewd business.
The news of Gabbanini’s sacking comes on the same day it was announced that Scott Munn, formally of the City Football Group, began his job at Tottenham as Chief Football Officer.
A new director of football is still expected to be announced soon, however, with head coach Postecoglou alluding to the idea earlier this month.
The Australian noted on September 1, “I like working with a sporting director because they do most of the leg work that I just don’t have the time to do. They see the game through your eyes and they say: ‘This guy is going to be perfect for you.’”
