US investor takes minority stake in Bournemouth
The Ryan family have owned a significant minority stake in the NFL’s Chicago Bears since the 1980s while Foley owns the reigning NHL champions Vegas Golden Knights.
Chairman Foley stated, “Pat (Ryan) is a visionary and cornerstone within the insurance industry, and, having worked with the team he has built at Ryan Sports Ventures, they will look to have a similarly lasting impact in the sports world.”
Ryan’s firm Aon were Manchester United’s front-of-shirt sponsor from 2010 to 2014 and sponsored the Premier League giants’ training complex up until 2021.
Bournemouth are one of 10 teams now to be under American ownership and are attempting to deploy a completely different style of play under new head coach Andoni Iraola, but currently sit fourth-bottom of the league.
