Victor Osimhen at war with Napoli
The Nigerian has suffered a difficult few days after missing a penalty in the 0-0 draw against Bologna and after an angry outburst following his second-half substitution, the striker apologized on Monday to his teammates and under-pressure manager Rudi Garcia.
The video, which has now been deleted, was posted today on TikTok and appears to mock the striker’s penalty miss whilst also using a high-pitched voiceover to poke fun at Osimhen’s tone of voice.
In an official public statement, Calenda called out the Serie A champions by saying, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.
Calenda also stated that Osimhen was currently struggling with demons of his own and threatened the Neapolitans with the possibility of a lawsuit, adding: “We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor”.
Osimhen comfortably finished as Serie A’s top goalscorer last season with 26 league goals as the Neapolitans went on to win their first Scudetto since 1990.
