Dutch giants Ajax are considering making a move for Orlando City winger Facundo Torres after a superb MLS 2023 campaign.
The 23-year-old is enjoying a fabulous season with The Lions who sit second in the Eastern Conference, emerging as one of the club’s star players.
Facundo Torres set for European switch?
Ajax are currently plunged in turmoil after Sunday’s match against bitter-rivals Feyenoord was abandoned with 35 minutes left to play due to crowd trouble with The Suns of the Gods 3-0 down at home.
The match is set to re-commence behind closed doors at 14:00 CET today but will be Ajax’s first game without Director of Football Sven Mislintat, who was sacked hours after the match was called off.
Ajax currently sit 14th in the Eredivisie just two points above the relegation zone and are expected to receive further punishment for Sunday’s De Klassieker being abandoned.
Despite this, the Dutch giants still have a significant amount of pull in the transfer market and according to Fabrizio Romano are confident of landing Uruguayan international Torres- who has so far scored a superb 12 MLS goals from the wing for Orlando City this year- in January, with an official approach expected soon.
