Papu Gomez agrees to deal with AC Monza
Gomez had initially rejected Monza’s proposal earlier this month but with no other offer on the table has now decided to move to The White and Reds
The veteran was released by Sevilla after failing to find the form he showed for Italian side Atalanta- where he provided 16 Serie A assists in the 2019-2020 season- an all-time league record.
As captain, Gomez was a huge part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s attacking and free-flowing side but in September of the following season, was involved in a huge bust-up with the Italian head coach, leading to his departure in January 2021.
Gomez was one of many high-profile players still to be picked up as free agents following the closure of the summer transfer window but now looks to have secured his short-term future.
