Olympique Marseille have decided not to sign Manchester United defender Eric Bailly on a permanent basis.
The inconsistent defender, 29, has spent this season on loan at OM but has failed to impress Head Coach Igor Tudor enough for his stay to be extended any further, making just 13 Ligue 1 appearances.
Eric Bailly transfer news: Manchester United defender to return to Old Trafford
However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bailly is no longer wanted by Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag either and is free to leave the club at the end of the season once he returns from the Stade Velodrome.
Bailly was Jose Mourinho’s first signing as Manchester United manager back in 2016 arriving from Villarreal and his first season was a relative success as the Red Devils won the Community Shield, the League Cup, and, the Europa League. However, injuries and then a loss of form plagued his time at Old Trafford and with Erik Ten Hag already having Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, and club captain Harry Maguire to rely on at center-back, Bailly has been deemed to be surplus to requirements.
