Away from the excitement of the World Cup, news of a potential massive transfer story involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus has emerged. According to Sky Sports, the Italian giants are close to agreeing a deal to sign Ronaldo.

A club-record fee of around £88million is the reported offer from the Bianconeri, which Real Madrid are now considering. If this does happen, it would be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

Ronaldo is a legend at Real Madrid

The tag legend is overused when it comes to football. However, Cristiano Ronaldo is a true legend at Real Madrid, who have had their fair share of legendary players down the years.

The 33-year-old is Los Blancos’ top goalscorer ever with 450 goals in all competitions. During his nine-year stay in the Spanish capital, Ronaldo has won La Liga and the Copa del Rey twice, while also winning the Champions League on four occasions.

The Portuguese international has become part of the furniture at the Bernabeu. If he does join Juventus this summer, then he will undoubtedly have left his mark at one of the world’s biggest football clubs.

Linked with exit last season

Last summer, Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy at Real Madrid and wanted to move on. However, he stayed amidst talk of a move to PSG and a return to Manchester United. If Ronaldo was unhappy at the Spanish club, then his performances on the pitch did not show it. He was still prolific, influential and a matchwinner for Real Madrid.

However, because of his profile and personality, any little hand gesture or his body language could be misconstrued as the forward being unhappy. He is a winner, and when his team does not win, he gets frustrated.

Would be a big move all around

Real Madrid has a massive decision to make this summer over Ronaldo. Reportedly, the Spanish giants are looking to overhaul their attack, with talk of moves for Brazilian star Neymar and France starlet Kylian Mbappe.

A transfer fee of £88million would help the Spanish side to complete a big transfer without breaking any Financial Fair Play rules. However, they would be selling a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, in fact, the current holder of the Ballon d’Or.

It will be a difficult decision for Real, but it will also be a difficult decision for Ronaldo to move at such a stage of his career. If he fancies a fresh challenge or a change of scenery, then a move to Turin may seem appealing.

Juventus are still a massive club and the dominant force in Italian football. The Bianconeri also push Ronaldo and co close in the Champions League quarter-finals last season, with Ronaldo eventually deciding the tie.

For Juventus, it is a massive fee for a player who is ageing and is unlikely to have a long-term career with them. However, Ronaldo is a player in excellent shape, who is enjoying a new lease of life as a striker. His signing would also be a signal of intent that they mean business next season, especially in the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid for Juventus this summer would be a massive story. It would be fascinating to see how it all turns out next season for all parties involved.
