Man United are reportedly not prepared to meet Napoli’s asking price for striker Victor Osimhen.

That’s according to a recent report from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who claim none of the clubs interested in Nigeria’s Osimhen, which include PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal, are willing to part with such a huge sum.

Rumoured to be available only for an eye-watering $172m (€160m), Osimhen, should he leave the Diego Maradona Stadium this summer, would become the sport’s second most expensive player, behind only Kylian Mbappe, who left Barcelona for PSG in 2017 for a fee of $240m (€222m).

Following the mounting interest in their prolific hitman, Napoli have raised their asking price, and consequently, with a summer budget believed to be around just $125m, Erik Ten Hag is understandably weary of putting all his eggs in one basket, especially when the Red Devils need to reinforce other positions, such as midfield and central defense.

Osimhen has reportedly been open to a move away from Naples throughout the season, but the latest reports have also indicated that he is happy to stay with the Serie A champions.

It has been an excellent season for the Nigerian, as he has scored an incredible 23 goals in 29 matches for Napoli. Osimhen also scored five in six outings in the Champions League before the club’s departure at the quarterfinal stage at the hands of AC Milan.
