Manchester City have been linked with a surprise move for Italian defensive midfielder Marco Verratti this summer.
According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, City have made an inquiry for Italian international Verratti who has suffered a disappointing personal campaign this season in France, despite the Parisians effectively wrapping up the Ligue 1 title on Sunday with a 2-1 win at Auxerre.
Man City interested in Marco Verratti according to French reports
The 30-year-old has been plying his trade in the French capital since his move from hometown club Pescara back in 2012 but this season has suffered criticism and personal attacks from his own club’s ultras after a disappointing European campaign, which saw them easily swept aside by Bayern Munich in the round of 16.
Despite a disappointing campaign, Verratti is reportedly determined to stay at Paris Saint-Germain and attempt to win over disgruntled fans, who also targetted Verratti’s teammates Neymar and Lionel Messi’s homes earlier this month.
