Chelsea have unveiled former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach for next season.

The 51-year-old has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain 11 months ago after leading the Parisians to the Ligue 1 title but was unable to bring any European success to the French capital.

The news of the Argentinian’s appointment has been a long time coming, first being reported last month, but was eventually confirmed on Chelsea’s official website and all Social Media platforms at around 13:00 GMT today.

Pochettino, who spent five years at London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, has signed a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with the option of a further year, and will officially start his new job on 1 July.

Chelsea’s American owner Todd Boehly said of his new manager, “Pochettino is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board”.

It has already been announced that Pochettino’s backroom staff will include his assistant at Tottenham Jesus Perez, as well as Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino, Mauricio’s son.
