Newcastle, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in snapping up Leicester and England’s creative midfielder James Maddison.
Maddison was left grieving after the Foxes’ nine-year stay in England’s top flight came to an end at the weekend, despite a 2-1 victory over West Ham. The result ended up not being enough for Leicester as Everton beat Bournemouth 1-0 on a nail-biting final day at Goodison Park.
Relegation has left Leicester in a precarious financial position and the club will need to sell key assets such as Maddison if they are to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Newcastle hopeful of landing England star Maddison
Maddison has shone in a struggling team this year, scoring 10 goals from midfield and surpassing double figures for the second Premier League season in a row.
According to Daily Mirror writer John Cross, the 26-year-old is set to be the first player to be out the door at the King Power Stadium and Newcastle are reported to be long-standing admirers of the attacking midfielder, with Sporting Director Dan Ashworth in the stands to watch Maddison during Leicester’s match against Liverpool earlier this month.
