Arsenal could face a fight to keep hold of one of their star performers this summer, as William Saliba’s wage demands have shocked the Gunners hierarchy.
The Gunners were hopeful of agreeing on a new deal with the central defender, but The Sun are reporting that talks over a new contract have hit a stumbling block.
Arsenal face Saliba transfer dilemma
Arsenal were keen to thrash out a new deal with Saliba this summer, as he has just one year left to run on his current deal. The club was prepared to triple his $40,000-per-week deal, but Saliba’s representatives are demanding considerably more.
The 22-year-old was one of the standout central defenders in the Premier League throughout 2022-23, and the Gunners defense was rocked following his injury at a key stage of the campaign.
Saliba’s performances have caught the eye of PSG, and the Parisians could make a move for the Frenchman this summer. Reports have claimed that the Qatar-backed club will do whatever it takes to complete a deal, but the Gunners are keen to keep hold of the defender.
