Newcastle are keeping a close eye on developments in France this summer, as they are monitoring the situation of $50 million-rated Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki.
It is being reported by the Express that the Magpies are in a prominent position to make their move for the teenager, and there is confidence that they could fight off competition from PSG.
Newcastle lead race for Rayan Cherki signature
Lyon could sell the teenager this summer, as they stand to make a massive profit on the attacking midfielder. However, Cherki is also attracting interest from PSG. But, the Parisians may be limited in their approach to sign the player due to FFP restrictions.
It is believed that Cherki is among the top targets being monitored by Eddie Howe this summer, as the coach has been impressed by the development shown throughout 2022-23.
Cherki made his Ligue 1 debut for Lyon in 2019, and has gone on to play 102 times across all competitions. He was a focal part of their team last season, as he scored four goals and registered six assists in 34 Ligue 1 outings.
