Bayern Munich have snapped up left-back Raphael Guerreiro from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.

The Portuguese international joined the Black and Yellows back in 2016 from French club Lorient for $13m and was initially used by German manager Thomas Tuchel as a midfielder.

The 29-year-old Guerreiro left the final match of the league season in tears after his equalising goal at home to Mainz wasn’t enough to claim Dortmund their first Bundesliga title in 11 years.

And according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the full-back has now decided to swap Dortmund for their great Der Klassiker rivals Bayern Munich, who are expected not to sign Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal and are looking increasingly likely to lose French full-backs Benjamin Pavard and Theo Hernandez this summer.

According to Romano, Guerreiro will join the Bavarians on a three-year deal valid until June 2026 after personal terms were agreed this week and a medical examination will be completed in order to secure a move.
