Chelsea have activated the release clause in Nicolas Jackson’s contract ahead of a $38m move from Villarreal this summer.
The Senegalese international is highly rated in Spain and enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, scoring 12 league goals in his first full campaign in the Spanish top flight becoming The Yellow Submarine’s top goalscorer in the process.

As stated by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, interest in the 21-year-old has come from three other unnamed clubs who are also prepared to pay the relatively low fee for a young goalscorer. Chelsea’s desperate lack of striking options has forced them to act quickly, however, as the Blues look favorites now to sign the Gambian-born striker on a long-term contract.
