Apologies dear readers, unfortunately, due to a frantic schedule and the timing of deadline day we were unable to publish the fantasy football ones to watch before the Premier League opening game between Manchester United and Leicester on Friday night.
Kudos if you had Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw or Jamie Vardy. However, here we have a ones to watch for the rest of the gameweek, enjoy:
Ben Foster (Watford, £4.5million)
The former England international may have suffered relegation with West Brom last season, but he has always been a very canny FPL option. His opening fixtures are ideal for the player who is planning to play their wildcard in the international break.
Foster and Watford’s campaign begins on Saturday with a home game against Brighton later today, then follows a trip to Burnley before a home game against Crystal Palace. Priced at £4.5million, he is a set and forget option for the early weeks of the season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace, £4million)
The young defender broke into the Palace defence towards the end of last season. He did not look out of place in the Premier League, and has played a big part in the Eagles pre-season campaign he is set to start Palace’s opening game against Premier League new boys Fulham on Saturday.
The right-back is now the worst kept secret in the FPL world. His price for a starting defender in the top-flight is a major attraction, as starting defenders at £4million are like the Holy Grail for FPL players.
Granted Palace were not great at the back last season. However, the return to fitness of French centre-back Mamadou Sakho will help Roy Hodgson’s side keep more clean sheets this season. At this moment in time, Wan-Bissaka looks to be the go-to option when it comes to £4million enablers. His selection is a no-brainer really.
Diogo Jota (Wolves, £6.5million)
The Portuguese attacking midfielder seems highly priced for a player from a newly promoted team. However, his price is high for a reason. The main reason being he was outstanding for the Championship champions last season.
The former Atletico Madrid star scored 17 goals and produced five assists in the second tier on loan from the Spanish club. His versatility means he can play anywhere across the frontline.
The one concern with Jota seems to be the step up from the Championship to the Premier League. However, this summer Wolves have been busy adding quality players to their squad, so he will have better quality teammates around him.
An opening day fixture at home against an Everton side who have endured a nightmare pre-season could be ideal for Jota to open his account in the top-flight.
Cenk Tosun (Everton, £7million)
The Turkey international took a while to find his feet in the Premier League after a big- money move to Merseyside in January from Besiktas. However, once he found his feet in English football the 27-year-old showed his worth to the team with five goals in 14 appearances.
The arrival of new boss Marco Silva who likes to play an attacking style of football along with the signings of Brazilian forwards Richarlison and Bernard should mean more goalscoring chances for the poacher. Everton have what looks like a kind run of fixtures at the start of the season, with their opening game away at Wolves. At £7million, the Turkish forward could just prove to be a bargain buy for any FPL boss.
