Manchester City are set to cash in on winger Riyad Mahrez this summer after accepting a bid from Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli for $39.2m plus $5.5m in achievable add-ons.
Mahrez, 32, will now undergo a medical tomorrow ahead of his switch to the Pro League and will join former Liverpool frontman Roberto Firmino in Jeddah next season.
Riyad Mahrez to undergo medical at Al Ahli tomorrow
As reported by The Athletic, the Algerian captain was left out of the Cityzen’s 25-man squad for their pre-season tour of Japan which the sky blues are set to embark on today.
Mahrez is set to sign a three-year deal with Al Ahli with the provisional option of a fourth. City have been rumored today with making a move for Barcelona winger Raphinha in an attempt to replace Mahrez, who has proved a consistent performer since his move from Leicester City in 2018.
The news regarding Mahrez means Pep Guardiola will now likely double down on his attempts to keep fellow right-winger Bernardo Silva- who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, and his preferred option, Barcelona.
