David De Gea has reportedly turned down the opportunity to replace Manchester United-bound Andre Onana as the new number-one goalkeeper of Inter Milan.
De Gea, 32, is holding out for a move back to his homeland of Spain after leaving Old Trafford following 12 years as the Red Devils’ first-choice shot-stopper.
Former United keeper keen on move to Spain
At United, De Gea was earning a whopping $482,000 per week making him comfortably one of the highest earners at the club until earlier this month. His acrimonious exit is thought to have left a bitter taste in the Spaniard’s mouth and the experienced number one now wants to weigh up his options before making a decision on his long-term future.
According to The Daily Record, it currently seems unlikely that at his age De Gea will be offered a move to Spain that will match anywhere near the wages he earned whilst at United with a move to the Saudi Arabia Pro League looking his best bet at the moment.
