Liverpool look set to add to their midfield options this week, as the Reds are closing in on a deal for Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo.
The German club have allowed the Japanese international to open talks with Jurgen Klopp’s side, as he is keen on making the dream move to Anfield.
Liverpool agree deal for Wataru Endo
The Reds have moved quickly in the market after falling short in tempting Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Anfield this summer.
Endo is a player that Klopp has admired for a long time, and he offers a natural selection in the defensive midfield position.
Liverpool will reportedly pay $20 million to Stuttgart for the 30-year-old, according to the Athletic.
Endo has huge experience at both club and international level, having made 50 appearances for Japan since 2015. The midfielder joined Stuttgart in 2020 after a promising loan spell with the club in 2019-20.
Since initially joining the Bundesliga side on loan, Endo has made 133 appearances across all competitions, and has scored 15 goals.
