Two of the Premier League’s strugglers meet on Sunday afternoon, as Cardiff City host Burnley at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff have endured a difficult return to the top-flight, as the Bluebirds have taken just two points from their first six league games of the season. The home side’s lack of a victory top-flight victory will be a major concern for the Welsh side, as will be the fact that they have failed to score in four of their six top-flight games to so far this season.

Add in to into the mix that City have conceded at least two goals in four of their six league games and you have the reason why they currently reside at the bottom of the top-flight table.

Despite all the negatives for Cardiff so far this season, the Bluebirds are still slight favourites to beat fellow strugglers Burnley.

Burnley have endured a poor start to their Premier League campaign, failing to win in their first five league games, suffering five defeats in the process. The Clarets had picked up just one point from their league games until last time out in the top-flight when Sean Dyche’s team hammered Bournemouth 4-0 at Turf Moor. The win ended a four-game losing streak in the top-flight.

The team from Lancashire have a poor recent away record in the Premier League, having failed to win in their last five games on their travels. Dyche’s side has also won just three of their last 15 games on their travels.

Cherries and Eagles looking to get back to winning ways in the league

Monday (8 PM Kick-off)

The final match of gameweek seven in the Premier League takes place at the Vitality Stadium on Monday night, as Bournemouth host Crystal Palace. 

Bournemouth have enjoyed an inconsistent campaign so far in the Premier League. The Cherries started the campaign with a three-game unbeaten run, but have since suffered defeats by Chelsea and Burnley, as well as beating Leicester.

Eddie Howe’s side do have a decent recent at the Vitality Stadium, as they are unbeaten in four league games, having recorded three victories and a draw. The Cherries have been prolific on home soil of late, as they have scored at least twice in ten of their last 13 league games at the Vitality Stadium.

Like the home side, Crystal Palace have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the Premier League of late. However, Roy Hodgson’s side has taken four points from their last two league games courtesy of a 1-0 win at Huddersfield followed by a goalless draw at Newcastle last time out.

Palace’s recent Premier League games have been tight, as six of their last seven have produced under 2.5 goals, including their last three matches.

The Eagles have a respectable recent away record in the top-flight, suffering just one defeat in their last seven league games on their travels. Hodgson’s team have also won three of their last four away matches on the road in the top-flight.
