Barcelona have rewarded Xavi Hernandez’s performances in the Barcelona dugout by agreeing a new one-year extension.
The Spanish legend will now remain at the Nou Camp until at least 2025, with the deal also including the option to extend by a further 12 months, according to ESPN.
Xavi rewarded for Barcelona success
Xavi made a name for himself on the pitch during a long stay with Barcelona during his career. The midfielder made his debut for the first team in 1998, and would enjoy a trophy-laden spell with the club over 17 years.
He appeared 767 times for the Spanish giants, winning the La Liga title on eight occasions and the Champions League on four occasions.
In 2015, Xavi took on a new challenge, as he signed for Al Sadd. The midfielder played over 80 times for the club, before taking up the managerial role in 2019.
After an excellent period in Qatar, where he won seven trophies, he returned to the Nou Camp in 2021. He enjoyed great success at the club last term, winning the Supercopa de Espana and La Liga title.
