Simons’ loan switch to Leipzig took many by surprise after he had just been signed by the Parisians after the Ligue 1 champions triggered the $6.4m buy-back clause in his contract at PSV Eindhoven in July.
The German club have publically stated they are confident of striking a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Simons, however, with Erbel adding, “Xavi got off to a very good start and we are currently tying him emotionally to RB Leipzig.”
