Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing 27-year-old England international Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
The Villain hitman, who scored his first Premier League goal of the season against Chelsea in a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, has reportedly held talks with Arsenal sporting director Edu via his agent Paulo Vernazza over a possible move in January.
Ollie Watkins wanted by Premier League giants
A consistent Premier League performer since his arrival from Brentford in 2020, Watkins is a self-proclaimed Arsenal fan and according to Football Transfers writer Steve Kay, is also represented by the same agency Edu owns, Two Touch.
A deal to secure Watkins for a premium price would prove difficult but not impossible with Chelsea also scouting Watkins to help their current woes in front of goal.
The London rivals are both also keen on Brentford striker Ivan Toney, but with the Bees captain currently suspended by the FA until January due to betting breaches, Watkins would be the match-ready choice to bolster either squad during the second half of this season.
