French giants Marseille have confirmed the appointment of Italian Gennaro Gattuso as the new head coach of their first team.
The 45-year-old is set to embark on his fifth different country as a manager with previous jobs placing him in the hot seat of other big European sides such as AC Milan, Napoli, and Valencia.

Gennaro Gattuso appointed Marseille boss
A World Cup winner in his time as a player, Italian Gattuso’s managerial career has so far brought varied success, and he has been out of work since leaving Valencia by mutual consent in January.
The length of his contract is yet to be confirmed by the club but is likely to take Gattuso until June 2025.
Speaking to the club’s in-house media about his appointment, Gattuso said, “I am very happy and proud to join Olympique de Marseille. It’s a club and a stadium, the Orange Vélodrome, where I had the opportunity to play as a player, celebrated throughout Europe for the passion and fervor it exudes.”
Gattuso replaces Spaniard Marcelino who resigned last week in an act of solidarity with OM president Pablo Longoria, who received death threats following the club’s premature exit from the Champions League.
