The Premier League returns this weekend (thank goodness) for gameweek 13 after a two-week international break. As always there are plenty of tasty clashes taking place over the next few days. Here are the games taking place on Saturday:
Tottenham v Chelsea (Kick-off 5:30 PM)
The most high profile game of the Premier League weekend takes place at Wembley, as Tottenham host Chelsea in Saturday’s late kick-off.
Both teams head into this clash in good form. Tottenham have claimed six wins from their last seven outings, while Chelsea are unbeaten in their 12 Premier League outings this season.
There is also just one point separating third-place Chelsea from the fourth place visitors, so it is a vital game for both teams.
Spurs have a good recent home record winning nine of their last 12 top-flight games at Wembley. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s team has suffered defeat in two of their last three home games, against Liverpool and Manchester City. The team from north London will be looking to avoid a hat-trick of defeats against the teams above them.
Chelsea have been handy on the road this season, as the Blues are unbeaten in five away games this season in the top-flight while recording victories in four of those five games on their travels. Maurizio Sarri’s team has also proven to be prolific in their recent league games away from home, scoring at least twice in four of their last five away matches.
Interesting in the last two meetings between these teams in the league, the away side has returned home with maximum points. Chelsea will be hoping to make that the last three games.
West Ham v Manchester City (Kick-off 3 PM)
League leaders Manchester City will travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham in one of the 3 PM kick-offs.
The home side has endured an inconsistent start to their Premier League campaign. However, Manuel Pellegrini’s side does head into this clash on an unbeaten run of three games, consisting of two draws and one win. The Hammers are massive underdogs to maintain that undefeated run against the Citizens.
Despite that recent unbeaten run in the Premier League, the Irons have found wins hard to come by, as they have won just once in five top-flight outings.
The home side’s home results have been a real mixed bag in the Premier League of late. However, a record of three wins in ten outings is not exactly a stellar one.
Manchester City are once again top of the Premier League table. However, the Citizens are only two points clear of second place Liverpool in the battle for top spot. Pep Guardiola’s side has been in formidable form of late, though, winning their last seven games in competitions, four of which were in the top-flight.
As is now the custom with City under Guardiola, they have been highly prolific in front of goal, scoring at least two goals in seven of their last nine Premier League games. At the other end of the pitch, the visitors have conceded just two goals in eight league matches.
The champions are unbeaten in 12 away games in the Premier League, having recorded nine wins in the process. The Citizens have also conceded just one goal in their last six Premier League matches away from home.
