Gunners and Spurs clash, as Reds and Blues face off

The Premier League weekend kicked off on Friday night with Cardiff recording a 2-1 win over Wolves at the Cardiff City Stadium. Unfortunately, due to a scheduling clash, we were unable to preview gameweek 14’s games on Friday as usual. Therefore, here we are the best of the remaining weekend’s action in the Premier League:

Sunday

Arsenal v Tottenham (Kick-off 2:05 PM)

This north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium could be one of the most important in recent years.

Just three points and two places in the league separate third place Spurs and Arsenal in fifth-place. Chelsea are fourth, just a point ahead of Arsenal and two points between the visitors.

Both sides will be confident of picking up a potentially pivotal win in this clash. Tottenham heads into this game on the back of six straight in all competitions, while the Gunners are unbeaten in 18 competitive matches.

Arsenal are unbeaten in six home games in the top-flight and Spurs have won the last five on games on their travels in the Premier League.

One important statistic heading into this clash is that Tottenham have failed to win on their last eight trips to the Emirates in all competitions. Mauricio Pochettino’s team will need to overcome that big obstacle if they are to maintain their position in the league table, with rivals Chelsea playing Fulham in Sunday’s early kick-off.

Liverpool v Everton (Kick-off 4:15 PM)

In Sunday’s late kick-off, Liverpool and Everton clash at Anfield in potentially one of the most promising Merseyside derbies in years.

Liverpool have of course started the campaign unbeaten in the Premier League and are just two points behind league leaders Manchester City in the table.

However, the Reds head into this encounter on the back of a 2-1 midweek defeat against PSG in the Champions League, which they will hope will not affect their confidence for such a big match.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has won four of their last five league games while scoring at least twice in three of their last four matches in the top-flight.

One major positive for the home side is their recent home record. The Reds are unbeaten 27 games at Anfield in the Premier League. The fact that Everton have won just twice on 26 visits to their rivals in the Premier League era does not bode well for an away win. The home side are favourites to continue Everton’s away day misery at Anfield.

However, Everton heads into this clash in decent form, having recorded five victories from their last seven outings in the Premier League. The Toffees are definitely moving in the right direction and even Liverpool boss Klopp recently admitted that Everton’s current team is the best he has faced during his time on Merseyside.

One negative for the Toffees heading across Stanley Park is their recent away record in the Premier League, as the visitors have recorded just one away win in seven games in the top-flight. However, they have visited Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea already this season.

This weekend’s other Premier League games (3 PM kick-off unless stated)

Crystal Palace v Burnley

Huddersfield v Brighton

Leicester v Watford

Manchester City v Bournemouth

Newcastle v West Ham
