Due to the FA Cup fourth round, the Premier League gameweek 24 has switched to midweek, which means all ten games will take place over the next two nights. Here are the big games taking place in gameweek 24:
Tuesday
Newcastle v Manchester City (Kick-off 8 PM)
The home side are just two points above the relegation zone after just one win in six Premier League outings. However, the aforementioned win came in a 3-0 victory over relegation rivals Cardiff in their last top-flight outing.
The win against the Bluebirds also ended a four-game winless run at St James Park in the top-flight for the home side. The Citizens are likely to be far tougher opponents, though.
City could put major pressure on league leaders Liverpool by winning in the north east and cutting the gap at the top to just one point ahead of the Reds home game with Leicester at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Citizens head into this clash in good form, having won their last eight games in all competitions, including their last four in the Premier League. Last time out they hammered Burnley 5-0 in the FA Cup match.
The result against Burnley means that the Citizens have now scored at least two goals in seven of their last eight games in all competitions. City’s goalscoring exploits have contributed to the fact their last seven top-flight games have produced over 2.5 goals.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been in decent recent away form, winning five of their last seven away games in the top-flight, including their last two matches. The Citizens are favourites to win this clash too.
Wednesday
Liverpool v Leicester (Kick-off 8 PM)
On Wednesday night, Liverpool hosts inconsistent Leicester at Anfield, as the Reds attempt to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table.
Liverpool have been relentless in their determination to stay ahead of champions Manchester City. In fact, the Reds have won 11 of their last 12 Premier League games, with the only blip a 2-1 defeat at City at the beginning of the month.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has also been highly prolific of late, scoring at least two goals in seven of their last nine Premier League games.
One of the most impressive factors of Liverpool in recent months has been their home record. The Merseysiders are now unbeaten in 32 Premier League games at Anfield while winning 15 of their last 17 games on home soil.
The Reds have also been highly prolific at Anfield in recent games, scoring at least two goals in six of their last seven Premier League games on home soil. Their attacking prowess has contributed to their last four league games at Anfield producing over 2.5 goals.
Liverpool have won their last three meetings with Leicester in all competitions and will be highly confident of continuing that record on Wednesday night.
