The Champions League quarter-final second legs take place over the next couple of nights. All four ties are still in the balance heading into the midweek clashes. Here are more details of those crucial second leg ties:

Tuesday

Barcelona v Manchester United (Kick-off 8 PM)

On Tuesday night, Manchester United travel to the Nou Camp to face Catalan giants Barcelona, with the visitor’s facing a major challenge to progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

Ernesto Valverde’s side head into this clash with a 1-0 leg from the first leg at Old Trafford. In reality, the game was a relatively tight affair, with neither side at their best.

The first leg win in Manchester means that the reigning La Liga champions have lost just once in their 20 games in the Champions League. The loss was a vital one, though, as it saw the home side exit the competition at the last-eight stage last season in a 3-0 defeat at Roma.

However, this second leg clash is at the Nou Camp, where Barcelona are 30 games unbeaten in European competition. The Blaugrana has also scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine home games in Europe’s elite competition.

The first leg defeat means that Manchester United has now lost three of their last four European games. However, on the flip-side, the Red Devils have won three of their last four matches on their travels in Europe’s elite competition, while scoring at least twice in all three victories. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will have their work cut continued their decent record in this clash and are underdogs to progress to the next round.

Wednesday

Manchester City v Tottenham (Kick-off 8 PM)

On Wednesday night, Premier League champions Manchester City host Tottenham at the Etihad, as the home side looks to turn around a 1-0 deficit from the first leg at the Tottenham Stadium.

The first leg defeat was the Citizens only loss in their last 16 matches in all competitions, 14 of which they have won. The defeat also ended a seven-game unbeaten run for the Citizens in the Champions League, consisting of six wins and a draw.

Pep Guardiola’s team has won their last three home games in the Champions League while scoring at least twice in the process. The home side will be confident of continuing both of those runs against the team from north London.

After a slight dip in form, Tottenham now look back on track, having recorded three straight victories in all competitions, while also keeping clean sheets.

Spurs also have an impressive recent record in the Champions League, as they are unbeaten in their last seven matches while recording five wins. Solid defensive displays have helped the visitors recent good run of form, as they have kept clean sheets in four of their last five Champions League outings.

Tottenham’s recent away form in the Champions League has not been great, as they have won just one of their last five matches on their travels in the competition. However, three of their last five European away games have finished in draws.
