There were too many mid-range striking options for us to fit into one article, so here is part two, enjoy:
Josh King (Bournemouth, £6.5m)
The Norwegian international seems to be a popular alternative to Cherries teammate Callum Wilson, as he is a full £1.5m less than the England international. Wilson was more prolific last season, but not by much. In fact, King scored 12 goals, compared two Wilson’s tally of 14.
However, the former Coventry man produced more assist. The pair are likely to start the next campaign as a partnership, with both looking like tempting prospects. King does look a bargain at £6.5million, though, especially considering the Cherries favourable opening schedule, which sees them face five teams ranked as a two on the FPL difficulty ranking in their first seven matches.
Diogo Jota (Wolves, £6.5m)
At the same price as King, Jota is another player who simply cannot be ignored when it comes to value for money in FPL. The Portuguese star started last season as an attacking midfielder but finished the campaign playing alongside Raul Jimenez in attack. His record of nine goals and eight assists last season is certainly nothing to be sniffed at. His reclassification as a forward certain gives FPL bosses a new interesting option.
Although Jimenez is a popular figure amongst FPL bosses, Jota could be the go-to player in the Wolves attack for next season. Maybe last season was just a preview and this season is the main event for Jota. One drawback for his selection is Wolves opening schedule, as they face three games ranked four or more in the FPL difficulty ranking. He could be a bargain later in the season, though.
Gerard Deulofeu (Watford, £6.5m)
Like Jota, Deulofeu started last season as a midfielder, as he had played for much his career as a winger. However, a switch to a more central position last season seemed to bring the best out of the Spaniard. The former Everton star finished the season with ten goals and five assists, which was the most productive campaign of his career so far in England.
Still considered as a slightly mercurial and inconsistent player, if the Spanish star can find some consistency in his game, then £6.5m will be a steal for the forward. The Hornets have a mixed start to the new season. However, Javi Gracia’s team are favourites to win their opening game against Brighton.
Olivier Giroud (Chelsea, £7m)
The French international spent a frustrating campaign mostly sitting on the bench last season. His limited game time saw the former Arsenal forward score just twice and produce four assists. The Blues transfer ban could lead to increased game time for Giroud next season, though.
Gonzalo Higuain has returned to Juventus after a poor loan spell, while Alvaro Morata has completed a permanent move to Atletico Madrid. That means Giroud’s only likely forward competition will come from highly-rated youngster Tammy Abraham. Chelsea’s pre-season campaign will likely show us which of the pair starts upfront. In truth, if either start, then they will be decent FPL options.
Teemu Pukki (Norwich, £6.5m)
The Finnish striker enjoyed a highly-rated prolific campaign in the Championship last season, scoring 29 goals and producing nine assists. His goals fired the Canaries back into the top-flight and he seems an interesting option in a very good attacking team. Two major factors mean that Pukki may not be in many FPL teams at the start of the season, his price and his fixtures. However, Norwich scores lots of goals under Daniel Farke, so he could be an option later in the campaign.
