As most of you are aware, Monday 2nd September was when the summer transfer window shut in the majority of the top European leagues. Here are some of the biggest deals completed on a big day of transfer dealings:
Mauro Icardi (Inter to PSG, initial loan deal)
One of the biggest moves of the day was that of Mauro Icardi’s loan switch from Inter to PSG. Sky Sports are reporting that the French club will pay a loan fee of around 5m euros before a permanent transfer next summer worth around 65m euros.
The striker is highly-rated but has endured a difficult time in Milan of late after a number of run-ins with coaching staff and fans. The Argentinian international will be hoping a switch to the French capital will be a fresh start.
Keylor Navas (Real Madrid to PSG, undisclosed fee)
Another player moving to Paris is Costa Rican international Keylor Navas who has arrived in Madrid for an undisclosed fee and signed a four-year deal with the big-spending French club.
PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola move in the opposite direction on a season-long loan deal that could become permanent next summer.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Arsenal to Roma, loan)
The Armenian international has fallen out-of-favour and has joined Roma on loan until the end of the season. The temporary deal will reportedly cost the Giallorossi around £2.7million and is not expected to include an option to buy.
The 30-year-old has struggled for form since joining the north London club from Manchester United in January 2018 in an exchange deal for Alexis Sanchez. Ironically, both players have made late window switches to Italian football.
Matteo Darmian (Manchester United to Parma, £3.6m)
One of Mkhitaryan’s former teammates at United, Matteo Darmian has made a permanent move to Parma for a reported fee of £3.6m. The Red Devils will also receive a sell-on fee when the full-back joins another club.
Javier Hernandez (West Ham to Sevilla, £8m)
The Mexican international striker has joined the Andalusian outfit for a fee of around £8m. The experienced forward never really got going at West Ham and struggled for consistency in the east end.
The forward’s career has rather stalled at the London club and he will be hoping to get back to top form in La Liga.
Fernando Llorente (Free agent to Napoli)
The Spanish forward has completed a free move to Napoli after his contract with Tottenham expired in the summer. The 33-year-old had been linked with a return to his former club as a backup to England striker Harry Kane.
However, the veteran has now headed to Italy and signed a two-year deal with the club from Naples. His new team are once again second-favourites to win Serie A this season before reigning champions Juventus.
Ryan Kent (Liverpool to Rangers, £7.5m)
The highly-rated young winger has joined Scottish giants Rangers on a permanent basis for a fee of around £7.5million. The 22-year-old had enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Scottish giants last season. The winger is now the Gers second most expensive signing of all-time.
