Sheffield United will attempt to continue their strong start to the Premier League season when they host Arsenal at Bramall Lane on Monday Night Football.
Sheffield United (29/10)
Sheffield United’s return to the top flight has gone about as well as they could’ve hoped thus far, but this is a marathon, not a sprint. Their only win in the last six came when they were able to beat Everton 2-0, and they also managed to secure two important draws against both Chelsea and Watford. However, they’ve also had three pretty narrow and fairly heartbreaking defeats at the hands of Liverpool, Southampton and even Sunderland – with the latter coming in the Carabao Cup.
Goals haven’t exactly been flowing in on either side of the ball in games involving Sheffield United, either, which is probably one of the biggest departments they need to work on. As such, over 2.5 goals in this one probably won’t be favoured by many, as Chris Wilder continues to try and steer United away from a possible relegation scrap.
Arsenal (10/11)
Arsenal have been pretty bulletproof in their last six games as they start to really gain some momentum in their race for a place in the top four. They’ve only dropped points against Manchester United in that period of time, picking up a 1-1 draw against the Red Devils. Aside from that, though, it’s been all smiles from Gunners fans after they were able to beat Standard Liege and Eintracht Frankfurt by a combined score of 7-0, Forest 5-0 in the Carabao Cup and Bournemouth & Aston Villa.
They haven’t had all too many issues in front of goal so you’d think over 2.5 goals would be likely for them, but it all depends on what kind of a setup they’re met with at Bramall Lane by an often stubborn Blades side.
Conclusion
Sheffield United always give as good as they’ve got in any and all circumstances, and have done since they were promoted back into the Premier League. The Gunners, on the other hand, have been a bit hit and miss away from home – and even that might be an understatement. It’s going to be tight and it’ll make for a tense Monday evening of football for both clubs, but in the end, we think Arsenal will get the job done.
As well as that we can’t imagine there will be all too many goals, meaning we’re going to go ahead and stick with the under 2.5. It won’t necessarily be a scrappy affair but the Blades will likely try to hit Unai Emery’s side on the counter and it’ll be interesting to see whether they have any success with that.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 10/11 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10. (All odds are taken from bet365).
