Prediction and odds for the game: Burnley (16/5) v Leicester (5/6)
We are backing the away win at 5/6
When: Sunday 19th January 2020, kick-off 2 PM
Where: Turf Moor
On Sunday, out-of-form Burnley host Leicester City at Turf Moor, in a game that could be crucial in the fight against relegation and the battle for a top-four spot.
Burnley
In truth, the Clarets form has fallen off a cliff of late in the Premier League. Sean Dyche’s team has now lost their last four outings in the English top-flight while conceding at least twice in their last three league games.
The poor recent run of form has the team Lancashire looking over their shoulders nervously at the relegation zone, as they are now just three points clear of the drop zone.
The Clarets lowly league form has something to do with their woeful recent home record in the Premier League of late. In fact, the home side has suffered four defeats in their last five outings at Turf Moor.
Burnley have been uncharacteristically poor defensive record on home soil of late in the Premier League, having conceded at least twice in five of their last seven league outings at Turf Moor.
Leicester
The Foxes suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat against in-form Southampton in their last Premier League outing. The result means that Brendan Rodger’s team has now lost three of their last five matches in the English top-flight.
Leicester’s recent poor run of form has seen the team from the Midlands drop to third place in the table, an incredible 16 points behind leaders Liverpool at the top of the league.
The Foxes will now be concentrating on maintaining their position in the top-four of the Premier League. Finishing in the Champions League spots would be a great achievement for the visitors this season.
One big factor in their successful top-flight campaign this season has been their performance in front of goal. Only Liverpool and reigning champions Manchester City have scored more goals than the Foxes in the top-flight.
The performances of former England international Jamie Vardy has been key to their attacking efforts this season. The 33-year-old has scored an impressive 17 Premier League goals this season. The veteran forward will fancy his chances of adding his goal tally against the leaky defence of the Clarets.
As well as an impressive goals tally, the Foxes also have a good away record in the Premier League, having won six of their last seven matches on their travels. They have also scored twice in all six of the away win in the English top-flight.
Conclusion
Neither of these two teams are in great form. However, there could be a case for Leicester having a tricky run of fixtures of late. Burnley, on the other hand, has just simply been poor against whoever they have played.
Considering the home sides recent form, we believe that the odds of 5/6 for an away win offers good value. We are also backing the over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/5.
Verdict: Back the away win at 5/6 and or the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
