Prediction & odds for the game: Brentford (3/1) v Leicester (17/20)
When: Saturday, 25th January 2020 @ 12.45pm K.O
Where: Griffin Park
Brentford of the Championship will attempt to overcome high-flying Leicester City of the Premier League in the FA Cup fourth round.
Brentford
It’s always fascinating to see a Championship side attempt to overcome the obstacle that is taking on a Premier League club, if only to figure out how they compare in the event of them gaining promotion. Brentford are on a roll right now and finishing in the top six looks likely, ensuring that they’re going to start dreaming about what might happen between now and May. In this instance, though, all they’ve got to focus on is Leicester City, which isn’t going to be a walk in the park.
The loss against Millwall back in late December was certainly a setback but aside from that, it’s been smooth sailing for Brentford as of late. They were unable to pick up all three points against Huddersfield in a 0-0 draw, but they have been able to beat Queens Park Rangers, Stoke, Bristol City and Swansea in their last six games.
Leicester
The Foxes may be situated comfortably in the top four of the Premier League right now in addition to being one game away from a cup final, but that doesn’t mean they should be taking their foot off the gas. Brendan Rodgers needs to let these players know that this is only the beginning of their journey, and if they can’t turn things around fast, then they’ll start to go into games like these with the sort of complacency that can change the complexion of an entire campaign.
Wins over West Ham, Newcastle and Wigan kept the confidence going for Leicester after a bad spell of form, but their 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Aston Villa left a lot to be desired given the supposed gulf between the two clubs. Since then, they’ve suffered surprising 2-1 losses at the hands of Southampton and Burnley in consecutive weeks.
Conclusion
Logic dictates that you should always go with the top flight side in games such as this, and we do believe Leicester are going to get the job done against the Bees. We think Rodgers will put out a strong starting XI for this one, and if they’re able to get their foot on the ball early and play their sort of style, they should blow Brentford away. The hosts are going to give as good as they get but from a quality standpoint, there’s no way they’ll be able to compete for 90 minutes.
Entertainment is the name of the game and we’re expecting plenty of drama, which is why we’re going to back the over 2.5 goals market.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 17/20 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from bet365).
