The Reds suffered a 3-0 defeat at struggling Watford last time out to end a run of 44 games undefeated in the Premier League. The loss was also their second in three games, having also suffered a 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 first leg in Madrid.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has never really taken this competition seriously, usually rotating his squad. The former Dortmund boss is likely to do the same in this game but is likely to field a slightly stronger team than he has in the previous rounds of the competition. The fact that the Reds have won just four of their last 11 matches in the FA Cup illustrates that this competition is definitely not a priority for Klopp and his team.
The visitors famously beat neighbours Everton 1-0 at Anfield with a young team before needing a replay to see-off Shrewsbury in the fourth round.
Conclusion
Chelsea have been unconvincing, but if Liverpool fields a weakened team then the Blues should have too much quality for the Reds second string. That is why we are backing a home win. We are also backing the over 2.5 goals scored, as neither defence has been great in recent games and the attacking players on display could punish errors.
