The Premier League is rumored to be returning in early June as fans, clubs and media members alike continue to wait for things to get back underway.
There continues to be an overwhelming amount of speculation as to what the future holds not only for the EPL, but football as a whole – and it’s not exactly hard to understand why. Football is more than just a game for so many out there – it’s a way of life. While that may sound slightly overdramatic, there is something to be said for its ability to bring people together in the manner that it does.
It was recently announced that the Premier League’s absence would be extended until the end of April, with the league releasing the following statement.
“The FA’s Rules and Regulations state that “the season shall terminate not later than the 1 June” and “each competition shall, within the limit laid down by The FA, determine the length of its own playing season”.
However, The FA’s Board has agreed for this limit to be extended indefinitely for the 2019/20 season in relation to Professional Football.
Additionally, we have collectively agreed that the professional game in England will be further postponed until no earlier than 30 April.
The progress of COVID-19 remains unclear and we can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority. We will continue to follow Government advice and work collaboratively to keep the situation under review and explore all options available to find ways of resuming the season when the conditions allow.

Now, though, recent reports are suggesting that while they do hope to get back up and running at some point in the next few weeks and months, we may be waiting until June for that to happen.
Now that UEFA Euro 2020 has turned into UEFA Euro 2021 after being postponed, there is certainly space available over the summer in order to get these games done. Of course, it needs to be done in alignment with the rest of Europe’s top leagues, with the future of the Champions League and Europa League being a source of great doubt.
If they’re able to get underway at the beginning of June, then they could wind up playing two games a week until it’s all said and done. Alas, with Serie A having five more games than the Premier League left to play, the timing of it all will be a source of great debate and discussion.
