Union are currently four points clear of Fortuna, but a recent poor run of form has led to a reduction in the gap between the two teams.

A run of five Bundesliga matches without a win, including two defeats, has led to the slight nervousness at Union. Last time out Urs Fischer’s team at least ended a three-game losing streak in the top-flight by picking up a 1-1 draw at home against Mainz. The game also ended a poor defensive run for the visitors, who had conceded at least two goals in their previous four league outings.

Union have a poor recent away record in the Bundesliga, winning just two of their last nine matches on their travels while suffering six defeats in the process. Their poor defensively displays have played a big part in the recent poor away form, as they have conceded at least two goals in eight of their 14 Bundesliga matches on their travels.

One positive for Union is that they won the reverse fixture and it is the only time these two teams have met competitively in the Bundesliga.

Conclusion

Although Monchengladbach’s form has not been great of late, we are backing the Foals to just about overcome the visitors. Due to Union’s generous defence, we are also backing over 2.5 goals scored.
