Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (4/9) v Norwich (6/1)
We are backing Eddie Nketiah to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/8
When: Wednesday, 1st July 2020, Kick-off 18:00
Where: The Emirates Stadium
On Wednesday evening, Arsenal host struggling Norwich at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League, as the Gunners look to keep their European hopes alive.
Arsenal
The Gunners have experienced a poor campaign. However, the team from north London now seem to be heading in a positive direction under head coach Mikel Arteta, although the Spaniard still has a lot of work to do to get the team back into contention for a top-four spot.
The home team are currently tenth-place in the table but are just two points behind arch-rivals Tottenham, who occupy seventh spot which would be enough to seal a spot in Europe for next season.
The Gunners have experienced a mixed return to action after the break. Two straight defeats by Manchester City and Brighton were followed by a win at Southampton before beating Sheffield United 2-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final in their last game.
Despite the poor record after the break, Arsenal have still won four of their previous six league matches. The Gunners recent home form in the Premier League has been strong, as they are unbeaten in five home games in the league, having recorded four wins in the process.
Arsenal are unbeaten in seven games against Norwich in all competitions, although three of those games have finished all-square.
Norwich
The Canaries are looking set for a quick return the Championship after just a season in the Premier League. The team from Norfolk are only six points from safety. However, their league form since the return does not suggest that they are close to a return to form in the near future.
Daniel Farke’s team have lost both their league game since the restart, suffering home defeats against Southampton and last time out Everton. The recent defeats mean that the visitors have failed to win in their previous eight Premier League matches, having suffered six defeats.
Farke’s team has failed to score in six of their last seven top-flight games. That run may not come as a major surprise, as the Canaries are the lowest scorers in the English top-flight with a tally of just 25 goals scored this season.
Unsurprising, considering the Canaries are bottom, their recent away record in the Premier League is not great. Farke’s team have won just once in the Premier League this season, suffering 11 defeats in their 15 matches away from home in the English top-flight.
Conclusion
It seems very unlikely that Norwich will get maximum points and it is hard to look beyond the home win. However, that offers very little value. We are backing over 2.5 goals scored, as Arsenal are relatively prolific on home soil, while Norwich are highly vulnerable in defence.
The other bet we are backing is striker Eddie Nketiah to be an anytime goalscorer. The youngster has looked lively in recent appearances.
Verdict: We are backing over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11 and/or Eddie Nketiah to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
