Arsenal and Chelsea will battle it out in the 2020 Heads Up FA Cup Final as the English domestic season finally comes to a close.
Arsenal
It’s been a pretty painful campaign if you’re an Arsenal fan, but even with that being the case, many supporters still believe that Mikel Arteta is the right man to lead them forward into a brighter tomorrow. Whether or not he’ll be able to live up to that remains to be seen, but when you consider the route the Gunners took to get to tomorrow’s final, you’d have to imagine that they aren’t going to be scared of facing the Blues at Wembley.
A 1-1 draw against Leicester followed by a 2-1 North London derby defeat to Tottenham Hotspur really did set Arsenal back in the league, although they were able to respond in a big way with a 2-1 triumph over champions Liverpool. They proceeded to knock Manchester City out of the FA Cup in their semi-final at Wembley, only to bizarrely lose to Aston Villa just three days later. In their PL finale, they just about held on to beat Watford 3-2 despite a late surge from the Hornets.
Chelsea
After successfully guiding Chelsea back into the top four, Frank Lampard probably isn’t going to be all too afraid of taking on Arsenal in the FA Cup Final – even though we’ve seen how many problems they’ve had when it comes to inconsistency. When they’re switched on they can really do some damage moving forward, but at the back, there are still some problems that need to be addressed.
Chelsea were fortunate to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in a tight affair back at the start of July, but they weren’t quite as lucky against Sheffield United as they were beaten 3-0 by the Blades. They bounced back with a win over Norwich followed by their semi-final success against Manchester United, only to lose a belting 5-3 game against Liverpool. Then, against Wolves on the final day, they won 2-0 to confirm their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Conclusion
We do believe this is going to be a pretty tight and nervy game, and in many ways, it’ll replicate the kind of atmosphere we saw when these two teams went to war in the 2019 UEFA Europa League Final. Alas, while the Gunners are capable of picking up the win, we just feel like Chelsea are going to stay composed and ready for anything that Arsenal can throw at them. Therefore, we’re backing the Blues to lift the cup once again, denying Arteta’s side a place in next season’s Europa League.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 11/10 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 19/20 (All odds are taken from bet365).
