Prediction and odds for the game: Spain (6/4) v Germany (17/10)
We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5
When: Tuesday, 17th November 19:45
Where: The Estadio Olimpico de Sevilla
On Tuesday night, two of the giants of European and world football meet in Group A1 of the Nations League, as Spain hosts Germany in Seville.
Spain
La Roja are second-place in Group A1 trailing Tuesday night’s opponents. Luis Enrique’s team need to record a victory to have any chance of finishing top of the group and making it to the semi-finals of the competition.
The problem is that the home team have struggled for victories of late. A 1-1 draw with Switzerland means that Spain have won just one of their last five international matches. However, one positive is that Enrique’s team has suffered just one defeat in 17 outings. Draws have been the most common result of late, as la Roja have now drawn six of their last 11 matches.
Spain’s recent record in the Nations League is not great either, as they have won just two of their previous seven previous outings in the competition, including picking up just a point from their last two games in the latest edition of the new competition.
One major positive for La Roja is their home record, as they have won their last eight matches on home soil while keeping seven clean sheets in the process.
Germany
The visitors head into this clash in pole position to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Nations League. A draw in Andalucia will be enough for Joachim Low’s team to book their spot at next years finals.
Despite their position in the table, things have not all been positive of late for Die Mannschaft. However, the visitors are unbeaten in their last 12 games, although five of those games have finished all-square, including the reverse fixture which finished 1-1 in Stuttgart.
Although Germany are unbeaten in six Nations games, Die Mannschaft’s team has won just two of their nine matches in the relatively new competition. Their games in the Nations League have not all been high-scoring, but their last seven games in the competition have produced under 2.5 goals.
The visitors away record in the Nations League is underwhelming, as a 2-1 win in Ukraine in their last match on their travels in the competition ended a three-game run without an away victory.
Conclusion
We are backing the draw in this one. Spain have struggled for results of late. However, they are formidable on home soil and also not an easy team to beat. Germany’s results have improved, so they will travel to Seville in confident mood. There is unlikely to be much between these two top teams. Therefore, we are backing under 2.5 goals scored.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 19/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
