The Premier League title race continues to heat up as top challengers Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur prepare to meet at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Liverpool

Despite all of the injuries and all of the critics, Liverpool Football Club continue to defy expectations this season. Sure, things haven’t always gone their way on the pitch and the rest of the campaign is going to be tough, but their tenacity under Jurgen Klopp needs to be respected – even by those who hate the Reds with a burning passion. They’ll know that if they can secure all three points from this game, they’ll be in a great position to go on and retain their Premier League crown.

The 2-0 defeat to Atalanta in the UCL probably should’ve been the wake up call Liverpool needed but instead, they stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Brighton in their next outing. They proceeded to get through a tricky week in style with wins over Ajax and Wolves, but two more 1-1 results against Midtjylland and Fulham brought them back down to reality.

Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur supporters haven’t exactly warmed to Jose Mourinho’s style of play as manager but even with that being the case, there’s still a lot of excitement about what they could accomplish domestically and in Europe between now and May. Mourinho knows how electric Liverpool can be going forward but he’ll also be aware of their weaknesses, and that could make this a really unpredictable game to watch.

Tottenham gave off a really professional aura in European wins over Ludogorets and Antwerp, even if the 3-3 draw with Linz ASK was somewhat bizarre. In the Premier League they would’ve been satisfied with a 0-0 draw against Chelsea and very happy with a 2-0 win over rivals Arsenal, but against Crystal Palace, they were fortunate to maintain their top spot after letting a lead slip to draw 1-1.

Conclusion

This is going to be a tense and tight affair to start off with but as the game goes on, we’re expecting Liverpool to draw Tottenham out of their shell in what could turn out to be a real shootout. Spurs know how to frustrate teams but this Reds team are on a whole new level when it comes to their attacking prowess. We are going to predict a Liverpool win, but Tottenham aren’t going to go down without a fight.

Our official scoreline prediction will be 4-2 which, as you can imagine, will smash the over 2.5 goals bracket.
