Prediction & odds for the game: Wolves (4/1) v Liverpool (7/10) – ST is backing the away win
When: Monday, 15th March @ 8pm K.O
Where: Molineux
Liverpool will attempt to get their dwindling Premier League season back on track when they meet Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers are probably going to live to fight another day in the Premier League and they’ll probably finish around the midtable region – but we don’t think that’s good enough. Nuno Espirito Santo has been able to do some incredible things during his time in the Black Country and while that needs to be admired, we also need to consider the possibility that he doesn’t have a plan B when a few of his star players go out through injury.
The 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the FA Cup seemed to wake Wolves up a bit as they went on to beat the Saints in the league and also register a narrow success over Leeds. They did slip up in a 1-1 draw against Newcastle before being battered by Manchester City, but they once again felt more composed in a dull 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.
Liverpool
Liverpool Football Club simply cannot afford to miss out on Champions League football, and whether they win this year’s competition or finish in the top four, that needs to be the priority from here on out. Their run of form lately has been nothing short of shocking but Jurgen Klopp seems resilient in his desire to push back against the doubters. Whether or not they can do so consistently, of course, is a different matter.
A win over Leipzig in the UCL, then a loss to Everton. A win over Sheffield United, then back-to-back Anfield defeats against Chelsea and Fulham. Sure, Liverpool then won the second leg against Leipzig and booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but this kind of run just isn’t good enough for one of the biggest clubs in English football.
Conclusion
As much as everyone wants to dunk on Liverpool for how poor they’ve been, we do think they’re starting to show gradual signs of improvement – mainly through the Leipzig win. With more players coming back and with this being a game away from Anfield, there should be far less pressure when it comes to their overall expectations. Therefore, we’re going to be backing the Reds to win this one and win it comfortably.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 3-0 Liverpool, meaning we hit the over 2.5 goals bracket. Wolves will have their moments, probably due to the sheer will of Pedro Neto, but it isn’t going to be enough in a game like this.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 7/10 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 1/1 (All odds are taken from bet365).
