One of the biggest talking points of the Premier League campaign is the race to be crowned champions. Last season Manchester City cruised to the English top-flight title. The new Premier League season kicks off on Friday night.
Here are the teams that we believe will be the main contenders to finish the campaign as this season’s champions:

Manchester City (4/6)
Pep Guardiola’s team were by far the best team of last season, finishing 12 points above Manchester United, who finished second place. The Citizens have not been that active in the transfer market, although they did manage to sign attacking midfielder Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for a British-record fee of £100m. Striker Sergio Aguero was their big exit of the summer.
The addition of Grealish will certainly add creativity to an already talented group of players. If they manage to agree on a fee with Tottenham for striker Harry Kane, then they will be even strong favourites for the title than they are currently.
Key Player: Kevin De Bruyne
Chelsea (5/1)
The Blues impressive form since the January appointment of Thomas Tuchel as head coach has made the club from south west London one of the favourites to claim the title this season.
Chelsea of course finished last season as European champions and they look set to add prolific Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to their squad. The Inter striker is expected in London for a medical later today. With such a talented head coach and squad, Chelsea look like they could be a realistic challenger to City. The fact that Tuchel seems to have a knack for beating the champions could prove to be vital in the title race.
Key Player: N’Golo Kante
Liverpool (5/1)
Jurgen Klopp’s team struggled to defend their crown last season. The Reds eventually hit good form towards the end of the campaign and finished third place in the table. One big boost for Liverpool is that the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have returned to full fitness after injury.
The Reds only summer signing is centre-back Ibrahima Konate, who has arrived from German club, RB Leipzig. If Klopp’s team can pick up from where they left off at the end of last season, then it would be difficult to write off Liverpool’s chances of winning the title.
Key Player: Mohamed Salah
Manchester United (8/1)
The Red Devils will be looking to go one step better than their runners-up spot from last season in the new campaign. Arguably, United have done the best business in the transfer market by bringing in the likes of winger Jadon Sancho from Dortmund and the imminent signing of France international centre-back Raphael Varane. Both players would get in most of the top teams in the English top-flight.
There are still doubts about whether the Red Devils have enough quality to finish above their main rivals City and Liverpool in the table this season. The new signings do give them a better chance of overthrowing Guardiola’s team this season.
