We are now into gameweek 23 of the Premier League and FPL. Our gameweek 22 ones to watch produced mixed results, with the highlight Cardiff goalkeeper Neil Etheridge picking up ten points. Here are our ones to watch for gameweek 23:
Jonny (Wolves, £4.3m)
The full-back on-loan from Atletico Madrid seems to be a good enabler for any teams defence. Wolves do not keep many clean sheets, but Jonny does possess a big attacking threat from wing-back, despite only scoring once and producing one assist.
Having started the last six league games, the Spaniard is definitely a good alternative to more popular teammate Matt Doherty.
Wolves host Midlands rivals Leicester this weekend, which is the beginning of a run of seven fixtures that rank below three in the difficulty ranking. The Spaniard could be an ideal mainstay for a player who needs to invest in other areas of their team.
Ademola Lookman (Everton, £5.1m)
The youngster has been in and out of the Everton team this season, starting just two Premier League matches. However, the highly-rated winger has impressed in the last two matches against Lincoln in the FA Cup and last time out Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Lookman scored against Lincoln and produced an assist against Bournemouth, which suggests he is threatening to turn that potential into something more tangible. A visit to Southampton this weekend offers Lookman the chance to add to his tally of two assists this season.
At £5.1m, he is looking like a good Toffees option, especially considering the Merseysiders kind run of games in the next few weeks.
Marcus Rashford (Manchester United, £7.5m)
The United striker is on fire at the minute and his selection is a no-brainer this week. The Red Devils host Brighton this weekend, a game they are hot favourites to win considering the Seagulls recent poor away form.
Rashford has now produced three goals and two assists in his last three Premier League appearances for United. The England international also has a league-high of ten shots on target in his last four matches.
He is enjoying a highly productive campaign, having scored seven times and produced seven goals this season in the Premier League. Not only does the Brighton match give him the chance of adding to his tally, games against Burnley, Leicester and Fulham also offer major potential to rack up big points in the coming gameweeks.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool, £9.3m)
The Brazilian international is rising in price, as he seems to be a decent short-term replacement for Tottenham’s injured Harry Kane. Firmino has been in fine form of late, producing attack returns in his last five Premier League matches, consisting of four goals and three assists.
Although teammate Mohamed Salah is the must-have Reds player, Firmino could prove to be a good double option for Jurgen Klopp’s team. The league leaders also have some very promising fixtures in the next few weeks, as they host Crystal Palace this weekend, before games against West Ham, Leicester and Bournemouth.
It is interesting to note that three of the Merseysiders next four matches are at Anfield, where they tend to produce big attacking returns.
