In the Premier League early kick-off on Saturday, Liverpool host Newcastle at Anfield, as the home side look to continue their hundred per cent record in the top-flight this season.

Liverpool (Odds of 1/7 for victory)

The home side has quite simply been relentless since last season in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side has not only won their first four top-flight games of the season but also now their last 13 league games. The Merseysider’s latest win came in a 3-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The biggest factor in their current winning run is their fearsome firepower, as they have now scored at least twice in their last 13 top-flight matches.

Another crucial contributing factor to the Reds good results in recent seasons is their home form. Klopp’s side are now unbeaten at Anfield in 40 games in the Premier League, having recorded nine straight victories while scoring at least twice in all nine wins.

As it for most Liverpool matches these days, Klopp’s side are big favourites to secure a victory. The recent history of this fixture bodes well for the home side too, as they have won four of the last five meetings in all competitions.

Liverpool will still be without Brazilian international goalkeeper Alisson, so Spanish goalkeeper Adrian will continue in-between the sticks for the home side.

Newcastle (Odds of 14/1 for victory)

Newcastle kicked off the new campaign with back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Norwich. However, the Magpies have since picked up four points, winning 1-0 at Tottenham before drawing 1-1 with Watford at St James Park.

The latest positive results have lift spirits amongst the fans, with some of the pressure also lifted off the shoulders of unpopular head coach Steve Bruce. Expectations about their trip to Anfield will be low, but the veteran boss will likely come in for criticism if they suffer a defeat on Merseyside.

Their recent away games in the Premier League have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four league outings.

Newcastle have a mixed recent away record in the English top-flight. However, they have suffered just one defeat in their last five matches on their travels, recording three wins in the process. However, those three wins are their only away victories in 13 matches in the Premier League.

Newcastle have a pretty injury list, with the likes of Dwight Gayle, DeAndre, Yedlin, Florian Lejeune, Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie, Jack Colback and Andy Carroll all expected to miss out due to injuries.

Prediction

Liverpool look set for another home victory, despite the fact that the Magpies have caused them a few scares down the years. Klopp’s team have so much quality, something that is lacking in the Newcastle squad.

Backing the home win offers very little value at odds of 1/7, as does the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 2.5. The bet we are backing is an outside bet of both teams to score at odds of 11/10, as there is very little value elsewhere in this game.

Verdict: Back both teams to score at odds of 11/10 (All odds from Bet365)
