One of the biggest matches of gameweek six of the Premier League season is at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, as Chelsea host league leaders Liverpool. This clash sees two teams attempting to recover from midweek Champions League disappointments.
Chelsea (Odds for victory 5/2)
The home side will be looking to recover from a 1-0 home defeat by Valencia in their Champions League opener. The Blues had previously gone four games undefeated in the Premier League, last time out hammering Wolves 5-2 at Molineux.
The Blues scoring touch deserted them against Los Ches. However, young striker Tammy Abraham will be confident of a return to scoring ways after bagging seven goals in his last three league outings for the Blues.
Abraham has played a bit part of the statistic that the home side has both conceded and scored at least two goals in their last three top-flight outings. The youngster will come up a Reds defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their last five league outings.
The home side are undefeated in their last 11 Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge, but have drawn three of their last four league matches on home soil. The visit of the league leaders will be a big test, especially as midfielder Mason Mount looks set to miss out due to injury.
Liverpool (Odds of evens for victory)
Just like their hosts, Liverpool are looking to recover from a midweek Champions League defeat. Jurgen Klopp’s side produced a lacklustre display to suffer a 2-0 defeat at Napoli.
The defeat came on the back of five straight wins for the Merseysider’s in the Premier League. Klopp’s side’s good form stretched back to last season and they have recorded 14 straight league wins.
The last team to take anything from a game with Liverpool in the top-flight was Merseyside rivals Everton way back in March. The Toffees were also the last team to stop Liverpool from scoring at least two goals, as they have scored at least twice in all 14 of their consecutive wins.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are also undefeated in ten away matches in the Premier League, having recorded six straight wins, again scoring at least two goals in each win. The last team to beat Liverpool on their travels in the top-flight were Manchester City in January.
Liverpool have won just one of the last seven meetings between these two teams in normal time. The Reds did beat Chelsea in the European Super Cup this season, but that was via a penalty shoot-out victory. The visitor’s last win at Stamford Bridge came in September 2016.

Liverpool had looked formidable this season until that midweek slip-up in Naples. They will still be the favourites to win this clash, but they may not be as confident as they may have been prior to the Napoli defeat.
Chelsea have been inconsistent, but will probably cause Liverpool defensive problems through the in-form Abraham. However, we are still backing the away win at evens, as Jurgen Klopp’s side seem to have the bit between their teeth when it comes to the Premier League, so are unlikely to drop many points this season.
Verdict: Back the away win at evens and/or both teams to score at odds of 8/15 (All odds from Bet356).
