On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal host Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, as both teams look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after frustrating draws last time out.
Arsenal (Odds of 2/5 for victory)
The Gunners have started the season in an inconsistent manner. Unai Emery’s side has taken eight points from a possible 15 in the English top-flight. The north London outfit recorded a 3-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday night.
However, their recent league form has not been great. In fact, they have now failed to win in three Premier League outings, last time out surrendering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at struggling Watford. Prior to the draw at Vicarage Road, the Gunners drew 2-2 with arch-rivals Tottanham in the north London derby. One positive for the visitors of late has been their efforts in front of goal, as they have scored at least two goals in three of their last four Premier League matches.
A big factor in that stellar scoring record is the form of lethal frontman Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, who has scored five times this season in the top-flight. The 30-year-old will be confident of adding to that tally against an unconvincing Villa side.
Although Arsenal’s recent home form in the top-flight has now been great, they have won 11 of their last 14 league matches at the Emirates Stadium. They have also been prolific on home soil in the top-flight in recent months, scoring at least two in 11 of their last 12 home outings.
Aston Villa (Odds of 7/1 for victory)
The visitors have made a mixed start to their campaign after promotion last season. However, they have found wins hard to come by in the English top-flight dating back to their previous spell in the Premier League.
The Villans have won just one of their games this season and just once in their last 18 Premier League matches. It would not be harsh to say their recent record in the English top-flight is woeful.
Unfortunately for Villa, they do not have a great recent record against Sunday’s opponents either, suffering six straight defeats against the Gunners in all competitions. A record of just one win for the Villans in 12 meetings with the team from north London does not exactly bode well for an away win.
The visitors have a woeful recent record on their travels in the Premier League, failing to win in 20 away games while losing their last nine matches. It would be a major shock if they ended that long losing run in north London this weekend.

There is nothing else we can see other than a home win. Arsenal tend to be strong on home soil, especially against the poorer quality teams in the league. Villa have not shown much this season to prove that they are not one of those poorer quality teams.
We are going to back the home win at odds of 2/5, although it does not offer much value. There are very few bets that offer much value in this clash. The other bet that may be worthwhile is the over 3.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10. Arsenal are prolific in attack and are not great in defence, so the bet makes sense in a market with little value for this game.
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 2/5 and/or over 3/.5 goals scored sat odds of 11/10 (All odds taken from Bet365).
