We have reached gameweek 27 in FPL and we are looking to follow up last weeks decent haul with another profitable week. Here are our gameweek 27 picks:
Fraser Forster (Southampton, £4m)
The former Celtic stopper returned to the Saints starting line-up for their narrow 1-0 defeat against Everton last time out. He did very little wrong, so should retain his place ahead of Alex McCarthy for the double gameweek of trips to rock bottom Sheffield United and league leaders Manchester City.
Southampton have not been great defensively, but they showed slight improvement against Everton. If you want to take a gamble on a cheap, differential goalkeeper who is likely to pick up saves points in his second game of the double gameweek, then the Saints giant star may be the pick for you.
Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City, £6.2m)
Despite the recent return of Kevin De Bruyne to the Manchester City midfield, the German international midfielder still looks like an important player for the Citizens. Despite only starting one of the matches in gameweek and enjoying a cameo in one, he still returned an assist. The fact that he didn’t play many minutes in the 4-1 win over Wolves bodes well for him starting both of City’s home fixtures in gameweek 27 against Manchester United on Sunday before a Wednesday clash with struggling Southampton.
With 11 goals and three assists this season in the Premier League, the experienced midfielder is enjoying the most prolific season of his career. In fact, his previous best league tally was just six goals in 2018/19. The 30-year-old also looks to be a good captaincy option.
Jesse Lingard (West Ham, £6m)
The England international has revived his career at West Loan on loan from Manchester United. Since his temporary switch in the January transfer window, the winger has scored three goals and produced two assists in just five appearances. His stats with the capital club put his United record to shame.
A home game on Monday night with Leeds United offers a good opportunity for Lingard to add to his returns in a Clarets shirt. Marcelo Bielsa’s side attacking style will allow West Ham the chance to hit them on the break, with Lingard’s pace a vital weapon. The Hammers have a mixed remaining fixture list, but they are one of the few teams that play on gameweek 29.
Mbaye Diagne (West Brom, £6m)
The Baggies forward has looked lively in his seven Premier League appearances for Sam Allardyce’s team, picking up two assists but scoring only one goal. However, the Galatasaray loanee was slightly unlucky to see a last-gasp equaliser against Everton ruled out, as he was narrowly offside.
He showed enough in the clash at the Hawthorns to suggest that there is plenty more to come. A home game against fellow strugglers Newcastle this weekend could be when Diagne nets himself his second goal as a West Brom player.
