Prediction and odds for the game: West Ham (13/10) vs Tottenham (21/20)
We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5
When: Sunday 24 October 2021, Kick-off 14:00
Where: The London Stadium
On Sunday afternoon, West Ham host Tottenham at the London Stadium, as the two teams from England’s capital clash in a Premier League derby.
West Ham
The Hammers continued their recent promising run of form in midweek, as David Moyes team recorded a 3-0 home win over Belgian team Racing Genk in the Europa League. The victory means that the home team has now won five of their previous six matches in all competitions. The match also saw West Ham keep a fourth clean sheet in six competitive matches.
Despite a good run in all competitions, a 1-0 win at injury-hit Everton last time out was only the visitors second Premier League victory in six league outings.
The Irons have also failed to win in three home league matches, having suffered back-to-back home losses against Manchester United and Brentford. They have also kept just one clean sheet in their previous nine league matches on home soil. The last home clean sheet was in their final home match of last season against Southampton.
Tottenham
After an underwhelming start to their Premier League campaign, Tottenham looked to have been getting back to form until a 1-0 defeat against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League. The defeat ended a three-game winning run in all competitions for the Nuno Espirito Santo’s team. The loss also ended a prolific run of goalscoring for Spurs, as they had scored at least two goals in their three straight wins.
The visitors have at least recorded back-to-back Premier League wins, which could be useful as they have built up a bit of positive momentum. Those recent victories have rocketed Tottenham up to fifth-place in the Premier League table, just four points adrift of leaders Chelsea at the top of the table. They are also outside the Champions League spots only by virtue of an inferior goal difference to fourth-place Brighton.
Spurs have a mixed recent record on their travels. However, winning just three of their previous eight league matches is not exactly impressive. The visitors have also conceded at least two goals in seven of their previous eight away games in the Premier League.
Conclusion
West Ham have returned to something like the form that saw them finish sixth place in the Premier League last season. They are dangerous in attack and strong in defence once more. Tottenham have shown a great improvement in form of late, in the Premier League at least. We are backing this game to produce an entertaining draw, with lots of goals. Therefore, we are also backing over 2.5 goals scored.
Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 5/6. (All odds are taken from Bet 365).
